The idea of Poznan Open derives from local team programmin competitions organized by: Poznan University of Technology (for example Spring Team Programming Contest) and Adam Mickiewicz University.

Outset

In the year 2002 Student Science Club "BooBoo" located by Poznan University of Technology (Departament of Computer Science)and Algorithmic Section KNI located by Adam Mickiewicz University (Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science) begun a cooperation, which led to mutul sparring in team programming.

Thanks to reciprocal help, the contests organized by the institutions mentioned above were more and popular in Poznan and the sorrounding grounds . A great deal of sparrings have been organized, not only in the institutions mentioned above, but it also spread out thorough various educational centers in Poland (Academy of Economy Poznan, III High School Gorzów Wielkopolski, VIII High Scholl Poznan)and abroad (Universidade de Aveiro)

I Championship

In the year 2003 our educational centers joined forces in order to organize a big programming contest. That's how I Poznan Open Team Programming Championship came into being. We were surprised by an unexpectably large interest of young computer scientists. There were 250 contestants. Apart from representatives of High Schools and Universities rfom Poznan and sorroundings, we were honoured to have as guests, teams from all the most improtant Computer Science Education Centers in Poland, including the world champions in team programming and other top world programmers.

I place and title of Major Poland Champions - Warsaw Uniwersity: Tomasz Malesiński, Krzysztof Onak and Paweł Parys.
II place - Jagiellonian University: Grzegorz Gutowski, Arek Pawlik and Paweł Walter.
III place - Wroclaw University: Michał Bartoszkiewicz, Paweł Olchawa and Maciej Popowicz.

Because of a large numer of high school students, we decided to award the best junior team with a prize: - VIII High School, Poznan: Jakub Bartkowiak, Łukasz Goral, Bartosz Kukawka.

II Championship

In the year 2004, after the success of I Poznan Open, we organized a second edition. There were over 400 contestants and about 60 people involved in the oragnizing process. The contest took place simultaneously in the labs of Poznan University of Technology and Adam Mickiewicz University, which are almost 10 km away from each other. Automatic Verifying System consisted of a 10 server cluster.

This way II Poznan Open Team Programming Championship became a part of history as the biggest stationary programming competition in Poland.

I place and title of Major Poland Champions - Jagiellonian University: Paweł Walter, Bartosz Walczak and Jan Prazuch.
II place - Warsaw University: Marek Cygan, Piotr Stańczyk and Marcin Pilipczuk.
III place - Warsaw University: Paweł Parys, Bartłomiej Romański and Marcin Michalski.

Like a year ago, we decided to award the best junior team with a prize: - III Navy High School, Gdynia: Kuba Kallas, Kuba Łącki and Filip Wolski.

III Championship

In the year 2005, after the previous successes of Poznan Open, a third edition arouse. There were almost 500 contestants about 10 people involved in the oragnizing process. The Champonship had a media patronage and became well known. The contest took place simultaneously in the labs of Poznan University of Technology and Adam Mickiewicz University once again and the Automatic Verifying System consisted of a 10 server clusters. For the first time foreign contestants (from Hungary and Portugal) competed in Poznan Open.

Thanks to that III Poznan Open Team Programming Championship became a part of history as the biggest stationary programming competition not only in Poland, but in whole Europe.

I place and title of Major Poland Champions - Jagiellonian University: Arkadiusz Pawlik, Bartosz Walczak and Paweł Walter.
II place - Wroclaw University: Paweł Gawrychowski, Jakub Łopuszański and Tomasz Wawrzyniak.
III place - Warsaw University: Krzysztof Dulęba, Marek Żylak and Jakub Łącki.

Just like in the previous editions, we decided to award the best junior team with a prize - III navy High School Liceum, Gdynia: Dawid Wieloszyński and Filip Wolski.
